Should You Have Multiple YouTube Channels ( Pros and Cons )

Should you have multiple YouTube channels? I know a lot of creators like to make a variety of content on one channel because it allows for the most creative expression but is doing it that way limiting your reach on YouTube? Hey thank you for this video! So when I started I was determined to go ad-free and not do the Google Adsense thing. Plus I didn't want Google/YouTube/BigBrother telling me what I could or could not do. I didn't want to force people to watch ads, and the combination of that, a terrible recording voice, the wrong mindset and some controversial content has caused my channel to suffer.

Things have changed a bit, except for that last part about Big Brother, but I am now wanting to be more flexible. I would like to start making videos that would be accepted by Google Adsense, videos that are more professionally done, have more energy and the right mindset behind them. Also shorter.

I didn't want to delete my old videos, but I am pretty sure Adsense will not like most of them. I thought I would need other channels off my main one to fix that, have my main channel be the home of the new content that Adsense will accept.

Is this the right approach here? Or should I sort my content into different channels, have a gaming channel, a VLOG channel and a Tech Support Channel – just not worry about the old videos? Just do the new videos, file them into their channels, and hope Adsense will ignore the older content? Or maybe I should have new channels for the new content and an archive channel to stuff in all the old videos?

If you have a moment and don't mind poking around my channel, maybe you could tell me how you would proceed, were you in my shoes. I want to do better at YouTube, I have committed to being a better YouTuber, and I think my channel has to be fixed accordingly.

I appreciate your help, and value your advice.

Hey 🙂 Thank you These are great Tips. I have two Channels, one for dance and one for yoga because i cant decide what i like More. But I definitely don't recommend it. It takes so much time. Also when people ask for my channel they have to remember 2 names. And it's harder to build influence. You have to comment with both channels.
Sometimes it feels like living 2 life's 😀 I hope one day I can decide for one.

I also watched your video "How To Get YOUTUBE To Show YOUR Videos To MORE People". As I was asking a question there I wanted to come back to this video, which I watched a while ago, and decided to ask you the following question that has been haunting me since I watched this:
In that video you were saying that the proportion of my subscribers who watch my videos is important, from which I understand that if most subscribers are not watching certain videos, then even if I put out a quality video with a relatively high audience retention, the subscribers who are not watching certain content are actually harming by merely being subscribers. I have two questions: 1. Do subscribers who are only interested in a small portion of my videos harm the channel by merely being subscribers? 2. Do subscribers who click on a video and then quickly leave upon seeing that that's not what they want harm my channel by pulling down the audience retention?

Hey nick- I did add a 2nd YouTube channel after listening to you here- my first is for personal training, fitness and more so due to now- home workouts, (own your fitness tm) Check it our. And the 2nd one is also called – own your fitness- but it’s a sales and podcast channel for how to sell personal training and sales and motivation and entrepreneurship advise. I do have to update the 2nd channel. Questions-
Can you check them out and give me a couple of pointers? And should I have a different name for the 2nd channel? For instance “sales entrepreneurship & motivation?” Or also call it “own your fitness” with the same logo and everything…appreciate the connection with you

Hello there! I'm creating content for two times for a week in an exact schedule but my channel seems like not growing. I wonder that my channel is so old but a few years ago I started using it. So I wanna ask do you think youtube pushes down and down the old channels to the very dark corners so it is hard that people find out the content includes?

Hi Nick, I was wondering if you could make a video on Bilingual channels pros and cons and suggest the right thing to do for people that have bilingual channels. I have a bilingual channel and I've decided to actually open another channel and keep them separate.. However I remember checking on youtube to find info about this and didn't find much on it. So i thought maybe you could do something on those lines just to help out whomever is confused about this topic and give some pros and cons… Thank you

I’m so glad I came across this video because, I’ve had a YouTube channel for years now but I’ve never been consistent with it. I recently started learning Korean about 8 months ago and & I would like to do videos on my learning journey. I also do a lot of DIY’s at home from time to time. I also love doing tech stuff and I also am launching my own natural hair products line this year. I am trying to figure out how can I implement all of these ideas into one channel instead of having multiple channels. I wondering if I make my channel as a Lifestyle channel would that work. I would love your feed back.

Hey Nick. Thanks for more awesome content! I have a question, I'm a singer/songwriter and a guitar teacher, should I include these two types of content on the same channel or just pick one? This has been really bugging me the past few days!

my main channel is about education. it's not monetized yet. I love cooking. should I start another channel for that? and for monetization, I should have 1000 subscribe and 4000 match time for both channels separately ?
